2nd Opinions Are Our Favorite Opinions--A Means of Comparison

We received a compliment the other day that really was impactful.  We regularly do post-treatment surveys, and while it's always nice to get positive feedback from our patients, this compliment summed up the goal of what we strive for with our orthodontic practice--a unique experience, excellent results with ideal customer service.  The main idea of the compliment was that our orthodontic office was truly DIFFERENT from others in the Akron area--and this family had a true means of comparison.

The compliment came from a parent who has four children; 3 of whom had completed braces and the two eldest went to two different orthodontists. For their oldest child, they chose an office that had a good reputation, a high price tag (which they thought meant they were the best) and four doctors.  They were happy with the result but the family's experience was not ideal.  They were bothered by the fact that a different doctor saw their child every visit, appointments were not on-time and the front desk was rude. Thankfully, their child got a nice smile.  For their second child, they figured that if the expensive practice had poor customer service, they might as well pay less for the same result.  They went with a chain orthodontic practice that had a low price.   They were disappointed with the result and once again, felt the customer service was poor.

Under the strong word of mouth referral from a neighbor, they came to our practice for the treatment of their third child.   They knew that orthodontics was an investment and to some degree, you pay for what you get--they learned this lesson the hard way.  Besides the cost game though, they were also a bit jaded with the fact that with both kids, they had NEVER had a good customer service experience.  We had an uphill battle in front of us but we were confident in the Barnett Orthodontics experience!

As we learned from them in our post treatment survey, getting both a fair price and excellent customer service was a reality for every family.  The biggest point they made, was that orthodontics is NOT a commodity which you can buy at any store and get the same result/experience no matter where you buy it. We couldn't agree more.

In the Akron Ohio area, there are at least 10 different choices for an orthodontist.  Put on top of that, the fact that some general dentists do limited orthodontic work and there are possibly 20 choices for you or your child to seek braces or Invisalign services--but as evidenced here, not all offices are created equal.

This family was excited to start their fourth child with us!  Give us a call to experience our experience.

Extreme Couponing for Braces?

Have you seen the new hit TV show on TLC called Extreme Couponing? It's a documentary series where coupon-clippers 'nickel and dime' their way to outrageous savings, sometimes even FREE cartloads of groceries!

Just like most of you, I get those neighborhood "Value Coupon" packets in the mail with discounts to local carpet cleaners, restaurants, tanning studios, window washers. etc. Extreme couponing, here we come, right?

Not exactly. Usually I just throw the packets away but today I leafed through the coupons and was surprised to find an orthodontist advertising a very LOW 'fixed-fee' for braces. The fee was almost $1000 less than the average cost of orthodontic treatment in Akron Ohio. How could they afford to provide the highest quality of care and have such a low fee? Our office has always tried to keep fees as reasonable as possible. We know orthodontics is a significant expense for most families. It just didn't make sense that someone could "coupon" themselves down to such a low fee.

As one would expect, there was a catch.

The fixed fee for braces did not include the use of any appliances beyond the braces. Thus, there are hidden fees beyond the advertised price. It's kind of a "bait and switch" approach to get you in the door. Is it illegal? No. It's just misleading as you end of paying for expanders, retainers, etc bringing the cost of the treatment up to the local average.

At Barnett Orthodontics, there's no confusion about what the fee covers. There are no additional charges and no hidden fees. No "nickel and diming".

Come and see what people are talking about. We are proud to say, that what you see is what you get. Integrity. Quality care at an affordable cost. No coupon necessary.

Got Justin Bieber FEVER? Barnett Ortho spoofs his choice on invisalign vs braces.

Justin Bieber wants his teeth straight just as much as the next person, but apparently, not with traditional metal braces! As you can see in the video below, this teen sensation opted for Invisalign Teen -- a clear invisible alternative to metal braces. Only recently did Invisalign become available to teenagers and its popularity is growing based on the trends we see in our practice. Invisalign is not for all problems, so if interested, be sure to ask Dr. Barnett if it's right for you.

Familiar with Bieber's "BABY" song, check out our short silly remake of the chorus to poke fun at his choice of Invisalign over braces. Do you think Bieber is being a "Big Baby" about how sore it makes his teeth?

Barnett Orthodontic is a Premier Provider of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen in the Akron Ohio Area. We are located in Barberton Ohio and serve patients from numerous surrounding communities. Call us today to learn more or to schedule an appointment 330-745-4497.

Braces in Barberton—The Under Appreciated History of the Magic City

Barberton, Ohio, has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Despite our practice being located here for almost 30 years, many of our Team Members were unfamiliar with the great history of the city of Barberton. To better educate ourselves, recently, some of us attended the annual Barberton Historical Society Anna Dean Farm Walking Tour. Here are some of the highlights…

Founded by O.C. Barber, Barberton was constructed as an industrial city close to Akron and on the Ohio and Erie Canal. Diamond Match, owned and operated by O.C. Barber was located in the city and was the largest producer of matches in the United States producing 250 million matches a day. On the heels of the success of Diamond Match, O.C. Barber constructed one of the largest and most successful “super-farms” of its time. He mastered the principals of mass production, mechanization, innovation, and long-term planning. The 3,500 acre estate, with a daily operating expense of nearly $1,000, consisted of 12 acres of greenhouses, herds of top-quality livestock, several large barns, a piggery, poultry house, flour mill, concrete factory, brick works, creamery and a 40 acre park. On the highest part of the farm overlooking Barberton laid the 52 room, 50,000 square foot French Renaissance Revival mansion, reportedly described by the New York Times as the “finest mansion between New York and Chicago.” Fully completed in 1910, the mansion alone cost over $400,000 and required 18 months to finish.

Unfortunately the Barber Mansion was torn down in 1965 but many of the Barber Farm buildings have been restored and some are being used by local businesses. There is a wonderful historical society working hard to preserve the history of Barberton and Barnett Orthodontics is proud to be a business in the Barberton community.
